When Balance crashes, freezes, or runs slowly, it disrupts your budgeting workflow. This guide covers solutions for all platforms.

Quick Fixes (Try These First)

Universal Fixes (All Platforms)

  1. Force close and reopen:

    • Completely close Balance
    • Wait 5 seconds
    • Reopen
    • Often resolves temporary glitches
  2. Check for updates:

    • App Store (iOS) or Play Store (Android)
    • Or browser updates (web)
    • Install any available updates
    • Restart after updating
  3. Restart device:

    • Power off completely
    • Wait 30 seconds
    • Power back on
    • Reopen Balance
  4. Check internet connection:

    • Verify WiFi or cellular is connected
    • Try loading other apps/websites
    • Switch networks if available

iOS Troubleshooting

App Crashes on iPhone/iPad

Step 1: Force Close App

  1. Swipe up from bottom (or double-click home button)
  2. Find Balance in app switcher
  3. Swipe up on Balance to close
  4. Wait 5 seconds
  5. Reopen from home screen

Step 2: Restart iPhone

  1. Press and hold Side button + Volume button
  2. Slide to power off
  3. Wait 30 seconds
  4. Press Side button to power on
  5. Open Balance

Step 3: Update iOS

  1. Settings → General → Software Update
  2. Install any available updates
  3. Restart after update
  4. Test Balance

Step 4: Update Balance App

  1. Open App Store
  2. Tap your profile (top-right)
  3. Scroll to Balance
  4. Tap “Update” if available
  5. Test after update

Step 5: Check Storage

  1. Settings → General → iPhone Storage
  2. If low (< 1GB free):
    • Delete unused apps
    • Delete photos/videos
    • Free up space
  3. Restart iPhone
  4. Try Balance again

Step 6: Reinstall App

  1. Press and hold Balance icon
  2. Tap “Remove App” → “Delete App”
  3. Confirm deletion
  4. Go to App Store
  5. Download Balance fresh
  6. Log back in

App Freezes on iOS

If Balance becomes unresponsive:

  1. Wait 30 seconds:

    • May resolve itself

  2. Force close:

    • Double-click home button (or swipe up)
    • Swipe up on Balance

  3. Check Background App Refresh:

Step 4: Update Android OS

  1. Settings → System → System Update
  2. Install any available updates
  3. Restart phone
  4. Test Balance

Step 5: Update Balance App

  1. Open Play Store
  2. Tap profile (top-right)
  3. Manage apps & device
  4. Find Balance in updates
  5. Update if available
