Your financial data is sensitive. Here’s how Balance keeps it safe.

Bank Connection Security

Balance connects to your bank through Plaid, a trusted financial data service used by thousands of apps.

  • Your banking credentials go directly to Plaid. Balance never sees or stores them.
  • Plaid connects in read-only mode. It can view transactions and balances but cannot move money or make changes to your accounts.
  • Plaid uses bank-level encryption (AES-256) for all data in transit and at rest.

Data Encryption

All data transmitted between your device and Balance’s servers is encrypted using industry-standard TLS. Your financial data is encrypted at rest on Balance’s servers.

Biometric Login

On iOS and Android, you can enable biometric login (Face ID, Touch ID, or fingerprint) for quick and secure access. Toggle this in your Settings. Biometric data stays on your device and is never sent to Balance.

Account Recovery

If you forget your password, use the Forgot Password link on the login screen. Balance will send a password reset link to your registered email address. Click the link, set a new password, and log back in.

If you share your account with a partner, make sure to share the new password with them too. See Sharing with Your Partner.

Account Deletion

To delete your account and all associated data, email hello@balancebudget.app from your registered email address with the subject line “Account Deletion Request.” Your request will be processed within 30 days. See the Account Deletion page for full details.
