Creating Your Account
Setting up your Balance account is quick and easy. Follow these steps to get started.
Sign Up Process
Step 1: Navigate to Sign Up

Visit app.balancebudget.app or open the Balance app. From the login page (shown in screenshot above), tap “Sign Up” to begin.
Step 2: Enter Your Information

The sign up page opens (shown in screenshot above). You’ll need to provide:
- First Name - Your given name
- Last Name - Your family name
- Email Address - Use an email you check regularly
- Password - Create a strong, secure password
Password Requirements
Your password must:
- Be at least 8 characters long
- Include at least one uppercase letter
- Include at least one lowercase letter
- Include at least one number
- Include at least one special character (!, @, #, $, etc.)
Tip: Use a password manager to generate and store a strong, unique password.
3. How Did You Hear About Us? (Optional)
We’d love to know how you found Balance! This helps us improve our service and reach more couples like you.
4. Click “Create Account”
Once you’ve filled in all the required fields, click the “Create Account” button to proceed.
Email Verification
After creating your account, you’ll need to verify your email address.
Verification Steps
Step 1: Check Your Email
After creating your account, you’ll see the email verification page.

Look for a verification email from Balance (support@balancebudget.app) in your inbox (shown in screenshot above).
Step 2: Enter Verification Code

The email contains a 6-digit verification code. Return to the app and enter the code in the verification page (shown in screenshot above).
Step 3: Verify
Tap “Verify” to submit the code and complete email verification.
Didn’t Receive the Email?
If you don’t see the verification email within a few minutes:
- Check Your Spam Folder - Sometimes emails end up in spam or junk
- Check the Email Address - Make sure you entered your email correctly
- Request a New Code - Click “Resend Code” on the verification page
- Contact Support - If you still have issues, contact us
After Verification
Once your email is verified, you’ll be directed to:
- Start Your Free Trial - Choose a subscription plan (30-day free trial, no credit card required)
- Set Up Your Budget - Create your first budget categories
- Connect Bank Accounts - Link your financial institutions
- Invite Your Partner - Add your partner’s profile (optional)
Account Security
Keep Your Account Safe
- Never share your password with anyone, including your partner (they can create their own profile)
- Use a unique password that you don’t use on other websites
- Enable biometric login on mobile devices for quick, secure access
- Log out on shared devices to protect your financial information
Forgot Your Password?
If you forget your password, you can reset it from the login page:
- Click “Forgot Password”
- Enter your email address
- Check your email for reset instructions
- Create a new password
- Log in with your new password
Troubleshooting
“Email Already Exists”
If you see this error, it means an account with this email already exists. Try:
- Logging in instead of signing up
- Using the “Forgot Password” feature if you don’t remember your password
- Contacting support if you believe this is an error
Verification Code Not Working
If your verification code isn’t working:
- Make sure you’re entering all 6 digits correctly
- Request a new code (codes expire after a short time)
- Clear your browser cache and try again
