Managing Connected Accounts

Learn how to view, edit, and manage your connected bank accounts in Balance.

Accounts Page

Viewing Your Accounts

Accounts Tab

Go to the Accounts tab to see:

  • Total balance across all accounts
  • List of connected banks
  • Individual account balances
  • Connection status
  • Last sync time

Account Details

Step 1: Navigate to account detail page

Tap any account from the Accounts tab to view the account detail page (shown in screenshot above).

What you’ll see:

  • Institution name and last updated time
  • Current balance for each account
  • Toggle to include/exclude from balance
  • Account Settings link
  • Connection status

Editing Account Settings

Account Transaction Visibility

Step 1: Open account detail page

Tap the account from the Accounts tab to open the account detail page (shown above).

Step 2: Navigate to Account Settings

From the account detail page, tap “Account Settings” at the bottom of each account card.

Step 3: Toggle transaction visibility

In Account Settings, toggle “Show account transactions”:

  • ON: Transactions appear and affect budget
  • OFF: Transactions sync but don’t show or affect budget

Use case: Hide savings account transactions that don’t affect monthly spending.

Renaming Accounts

Some banks send generic names. You can’t rename directly, but accounts display with their bank’s official name.

Removing Accounts

When to Remove

Remove an account if:

  • Account is closed
  • No longer want to track it
  • Duplicate connection
  • Switching to different account

How to Remove

Step 1: Navigate to Account Detail

  1. Go to Accounts tab
  2. Tap the account to open the account detail page (shown in screenshot above)

Step 2: Delete Account

From the account detail page, look for the delete/trash icon (top right). Tap it to open the delete confirmation modal (shown in screenshot above).

Step 3: Confirm Removal

Confirm the deletion in the modal. The account will be:

  • Disconnected from Balance
  • Historical transactions remain in your transaction history
  • Can reconnect anytime through the Accounts tab

What happens:

  • Account is disconnected
  • Historical transactions remain
  • Can reconnect anytime

Reconnecting Accounts

If an account shows “Action Required”:

  1. Tap the account
  2. Select “Reconnect”
  3. Log in with banking credentials
  4. Complete verification
  5. Connection restored

Account Limits

Premium Plans: Up to 10 accounts

Includes:

  • Checking accounts
  • Savings accounts
  • Credit cards

Troubleshooting

Account Not Updating:

  • Pull down to refresh
  • Check connection status
  • Reconnect if needed

Balance Incorrect:

  • Check pending transactions
  • Wait for full sync (up to 24 hours)
  • Verify on bank’s website
