Learn about account connection limits for different Balance subscription plans.
Current Plan Limits
Premium Plans (Monthly & Annual)
Account Limit: Up to 10 accounts
Includes:
- Checking accounts
- Savings accounts
- Credit cards
- Any combination
Example:
- 2 checking accounts
- 1 savings account
- 4 credit cards
- 2 partner’s checking accounts
- 1 joint savings account = 10 accounts total ✓
Free Plan (After Trial)
Account Limit: 0 accounts
What you can do:
- Manual transaction entry
- Budget category management
- Use all budgeting features
- Add partner profiles
What you can’t do:
- Connect bank accounts
- Automatic transaction sync
What Counts as an Account
Counts Toward Limit
✅ Each checking account
✅ Each savings account
✅ Each credit card
✅ Each debit card (if separate)
Does Not Count
❌ Sub-accounts (different view of same account)
❌ Disconnected/removed accounts
❌ Investment accounts (most not supported)
Managing Your Account Limit
If You’re at the Limit
Options:
- Remove unused accounts - Disconnect accounts you don’t actively track
- Consolidate - Use fewer accounts if possible
- Prioritize - Connect most important accounts only
Smart Account Selection
Priority 1 (Must Have):
- Primary checking account
- Main credit cards
- Joint accounts with partner
Priority 2 (Nice to Have):
- Secondary checking
- Savings accounts
- Less-used credit cards
Priority 3 (Optional):
- Emergency savings (can track balance manually)

A: No, the system enforces the 10-account limit.

A: One - each account connection counts as one, regardless of ownership.

Q: Can my partner connect their own accounts separately?
A: Partners share the same 10-account pool in one Balance household.
Q: Do savings accounts count even if I hide transactions?

Upgrading Your Plan
From Free to Premium
- Go to Pricing page or tap Subscribe button
- Choose Premium Monthly or Annual
- Complete checkout
- Immediately connect up to 10 accounts
Checking Your Current Usage
To see how many accounts you’re using:
- Go to Accounts tab
- Count connected accounts
- Or check your subscription status via Profile icon > Plan & Subscription
